Shiner

The other day Mädchen was at the park with Gretchen, got a little rambunctious on the metal rocking horse, and basically did a face plant onto the horse. You know how some kids can fall and smack their heads on the ground and just shake it off like nothing ever happened? Let's just say that's never been Mädchen's style--for the longest time, if she so much as fell on her butt, she would at least whimper a little bit. So Gretchen was surprised that, despite getting a little black eye (which is sort of visible in this photo), Mädchen quite understandably cried for a minute but then rallied and kept playing. Maybe she's toughening up a little bit...
